Sprinkler Systems: CPVC Piping

Seminar Objective:

The objective of this presentation is to review requirements for CPVC piping used for sprinkler systems.

Seminar Outline:

This interactive presentation will discuss:

  • CPVC testing,
  • Installation best practices,
  • Compatibility programs,
  • Expansion/Contraction rules,
  • Design considerations,
  • Safety information and new listings,
  • Review of UL 1821 on exposed sprinkler piping,
  • CSA B1378 change and the new use of CPVC in ordinary hazard spaces.

Instructor’s Biography:

Sean Pearce has a broad fire protection background starting with Toronto Fire Services, where he was a front-line fire fighter, Captain in Training and Executive Officer to the Fire Chief. Subsequent to the Fire Service he worked as the National Marketing Manager and Ontario Regional Manager for the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA). Sean has sat on various Provincial and National code committees, including the Retrofit of Care facilities, fire code changes, high rise residential fire sprinkler requirements, the compulsory certification of the fire sprinkler industry in Ontario and others.

Currently Sean is the fire protection technical advisor with the Government of Ontario – Ministry of Seniors Affairs. He is also a piping consultant for Lubrizol in Canada.  Sean graduated from the University of Toronto studying, Marketing and Competitive Intelligence.
