Certificate: A certificate of attendance will be issued by CFSA at the end of the workshop
This workshop may qualify for continuing education credits/learning hours when recertifying for designations (i.e. C.E.T., CFPS, CFEI, CFAA, etc.). This workshop will account for 1 hour.

WORKSHOP OUTLINE:
In fire safety as in any other area of life, standards are important in defining acceptable performance of products, services and systems. Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) is a leader in defining standards in a wide variety of fields. This webinar provides an overview of national standards relating to fire safety and their development. You will also learn about the testing and certification services provided by ULC.

This workshop will benefit engineers, designers, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (building and fire departments).
INSTRUCTOR’S BIOGRAPHY:
Theresa (Tess) Espejo has more than 20 years experience in standards, codes and legislation. For the last 17 years, she has been with ULC Standards, managing technical committees in areas including cannabis, fire and life safety, and security. In addition to her work on standards with ULC, she has also been active in the development of Canada's model building and fire codes - from 2006 to 2019, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Hazardous Materials and Activities (National Fire Code of Canada) and is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Fire Protection (National Building Code of Canada). As such, she is well positioned to explain the development of codes and standards in the Canadian context.
Tess is also involved in international standards, being Secretary and Project Manager for the ISO International Workshop Agreement on safety, security and sustainability of cannabis facilities and operations (ISO IWA 37).
Tess is an honourary life member of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA), and is a member of the Canadian Security Association (CANASA), the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and CFSA.
