Presenters

Derek Oliveira, Director of Service Operations, Classic Fire + Life Safety

Derek has 19 years of experience in the fire and life safety industry and leads the service operations team at Classic Fire + Life Safety. He oversees field service, training, scheduling, quality, and safety across multiple regions.

A 427A Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter, Derek brings hands-on ability in NFPA 20, NFPA 25, and TSSA compliance. He’s passionate about team development, practical training, and raising the bar for fire protection service standards.

 
Brock Hardy, Field Training Manager, Classic Fire + Life Safety

Brock is a licensed sprinkler fitter who has been with Classic Fire & Life Safety since 2011. He started in construction and moved into service in 2015. Since then, he is taken on a wide range of roles, small installs, deficiency repairs, inspections, emergency calls, and quoting. He also served as the GTA Service Lead. Today, Brock is the Field Training Manager. He’s focused on building technician skills across the company, with an emphasis on code compliance and practical field knowledge.

 
Matt Cormier

Matt joined Classic Fire + Life Safety in November 2024 and brings over 20 years of hands-on technical experience in the fire protection and HVAC industries. Before joining us, he spent several years as a dedicated Fire Pump Technician and also served as a part-time firefighter in Orangeville. Matt specializes in diesel and electric fire pump systems, including testing, commissioning, and maintenance. His practical field knowledge and calm approach make him a valuable asset during live demonstrations, and he’ll be helping lead our fire pump performance testing session.
