NFPA 14, 13 and 25, 2020 Edition: Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Standpipe Systems and Pressure reducing devices
This session will examine the requirements for inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems according to the 2020 edition of NFPA 25. The presenters will discuss key equipment installed on standpipe systems and how it should be tested. There will be a discussion on evaluating test results and how to classify conditions that could impact the performance of the standpipe system. There will also be a discussion on potential changes to NFPA 25 and NFPA 14 that could impact future standpipe testing. We discuss how pressure reducing devices shall be installed, designed and tested.
Objectives:
- Examine the current requirements for periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems
- Discuss the key equipment installed on standpipe systems such as:
- Hose valves
- Pressure-Regulating Devices
- Pressure Restricting Devices
- Identify methods of conducting
- Flow Testing Standpipe systems
- Hydrostatic testing piping of standpipe systems and fire department connections
- Analyze the results of testing and determine how to classify findings that may impact system performance
- Evaluate potential changes being discussed to NFPA 14 and NFPA 25 that could impact future testing of inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems
